Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Manali – Local Acclimatization

Arrive in Manali and check into your hotel. Spend the day acclimatizing and exploring the charming town at your own pace. You can visit Hadimba Temple, take a walk along the Beas River, or relax at a local café on Mall Road. In the evening, attend a trek briefing session where you’ll meet your trek leader, go through a gear check, and get an overview of the trail. Overnight stay at a hotel in Manali.

Day 2: Manali – Jobra (Drive) – Trek to Chika (10,100 ft)

After breakfast, drive from Manali to Jobra, the starting point of the trek (approx. 1.5–2 hours). The trek begins with a scenic trail through pine and maple forests, alongside the gushing Rani Nallah. It’s an easy 2–3 hour trek to Chika, a beautiful campsite set in a vast green meadow with a river flowing by. Settle into your tents, enjoy a hot dinner, and soak in the stunning valley views. Overnight camping at Chika.

Day 3: Chika – Balu Ka Ghera (11,900 ft)

Wake up to a peaceful mountain morning and start your trek towards Balu Ka Ghera, which literally means “bed of sand.” The trail gradually climbs through wildflowers, rocky patches, and river crossings. On the way, you’ll see incredible views of snow-covered peaks and cascading waterfalls. The hike takes around 5–6 hours. Arrive at the campsite by afternoon, rest, and refuel with a warm meal under the open sky. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 4: Balu Ka Ghera – Hampta Pass (14,100 ft) – Trek to Siagoru (12,900 ft)

This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Start early to reach the highlight of the journey – Hampta Pass, a dramatic crossover point between the lush Kullu Valley and the barren, moon-like landscape of Lahaul. The trail is steep and rocky, and might even include walking on snow depending on the season. From the top, take in panoramic views of the Indrasan and Deo Tibba peaks. After a short break, descend carefully to the campsite at Siagoru, located in a cold desert valley. Overnight in tents by the riverside.

Day 5: Siagoru – Chatru – Drive to Chandratal (if road and weather permit) – Return to Chatru

Today’s trek is mostly downhill as you make your way to Chatru, a confluence point of the Hampta, Rohtang, and Spiti passes. The descent is rocky and requires careful footing. Once at Chatru, if the roads are open and weather allows, drive to the stunning Chandratal Lake – a high-altitude crescent-shaped lake with turquoise waters. Spend some time at the lake before returning to Chatru for camping. If the road is closed, enjoy the rest of the day relaxing at the Chatru campsite. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 6: Chatru – Drive to Manali via Rohtang Pass / Atal Tunnel – Departure

After breakfast, drive back to Manali via the iconic Rohtang Pass or Atal Tunnel, depending on conditions. Soak in the final views of the high Himalayas before arriving in Manali by afternoon. With hearts full of memories and cameras full of epic shots, it’s time to part ways and head home. Trip ends here with a sense of achievement and adventure well-lived.
